Teeth Whitening

mám dotaz

Our dental centre offers teeth whitening either at our practice or in the comfort of your home. We use Opalescence method that has brilliant results - your teeth can be two shades whiter after only one visit in our practice

What is teeth whitening?

It is a process of removing pigments retained in a hard dental tissue by both physical and chemical ways. Teeth thus become naturally and aesthetically white.

Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?

Unfortunately not. It is always necessary to consult an expert - dentist. It is recommended for those with their own and completely healthy teeth. On the other hand it is not recommended if:

- your teeth are damaged by decay, injury or your enamel is abraded
- you suffer from mouth infections
- you have any fillings or crowns in your front teeth
- you suffer from certain allergies
- you are a child under 16 - your teeth are not mature and are too sensitive
- you are pregnant or nursing

What are the options for teeth whitening?

At dental practice

Opalescence method takes about two hours and can be repeated if necessary. Your teeth will be at least two shades whiter instantly with a long-lasting effect. This type of whitening is performed by a dentist who ensures your gums and tooth necks are safe. The dentist applies the whitening gel and when the process is finished recommends you next steps. At the end of the session your doctor instructs you about a "white diet"- you should avoid food with distinctive colours, coffee, tea, red wine and smoking for 24 hours.

At home

Philips zoom method takes about 2 -3 weeks. Your teeth will be at least two shades whiter with a long-lasting effect. Home Whitening Gels are delivered via customized bleaching tray. Your dentist will create this tray from an alginate impression of your mouth. Thanks to its sticky texture the whitening gel stays in the tray and therefore doesn't irritate the soft tissues in your mouth.

Can a single tooth be whitened?

Yes, it can. This process is more complicated and needs a thorough teeth examination and a consultation with an expert.

Are there any side effects?

Your teeth will be temporarily more sensitive - the uncomfortable feeling will go away after 24 hours. The whitening process doesn't harm your teeth in any way.

How often can I repeat the whitening?

Because this procedure doesn't harm your teeth in any way it can be repeated. The effect will last for about 1 - 2 years depending on many factors:

- systematical and responsible dental care - using the right way of brushing your teeth
- good choice of tooth paste, mouthwash and dental aids
- smoking - negatively influences teeth colour
- drinking of coffee, red wine or black tea
